OUR PROCESS
At 818, while you raise your glass, we hope to raise the bar through our sustainable and transparent process. We believe you should understand the craft and hard work that goes into creating a bottle of our award-winning product.
SOURCING THE BEST AGAVES
Our tequila’s journey starts with the work of skilled jimadores, agave farmers local to the Tequila region. They identify agaves located in the Los Valles region of Tequila, finding optimal conditions for 818 by waiting for at least 7 years for the agaves to reach peak maturity.
COOKED IN TRADITIONAL BRICK OVENS
Next, we cook our carefully-selected agaves in stone ovens for up to 40 hours. Large stone Tahonas are then used to extract and collect the juice by crushing the cooked agaves, a technique that has been around for centuries.
DISTILLED IN ALEMBIC POT STILLS
818 is fermented for 70 hours and then distilled in pot stills. We distill our tequilas twice to enhance our favorite aromas.
AGED IN OAK BARRELS
Our Reposado and Añejo Tequilas are aged in White Oak barrels, adding a smooth vanilla finish.
MADE IN HARMONY WITH THE EARTH
Finally, we package our bottles for the world to share. We’re proud that our suppliers, like us, prioritize sustainability and transparency in the production of their materials every step of the way.
